Primary text

It is recommended to supplicate for the host. This is supported by the narration where the Prophet (PBUH) was hosted by Abu Al-Haytham, and after finishing, the Prophet (PBUH) commanded his companions, "May you recompense your host." When asked what the recompense was, the Prophet (PBUH) clarified: "Indeed, when a man enters his house, eats his food, and drinks his drink, and they supplicate for him, that is his recompense" (Reported by Abu Dawud with a similar narration regarding Sa'd ibn 'Ubadah).

Supporting text

The supplication for the host includes the invocation: "May those who fast break their fast with you, and may the righteous eat your food, and may the angels send blessings upon you" (Reported by Abu Dawud).
