What is the legal implication of accepting an invitation to a Walimah (wedding banquet)?

Accepting an invitation to a Walimah constitutes permission to enter and eat. This ruling is evidenced by the statement of the Prophet, peace be upon him, narrated by Abu Hurairah: 'If one of you is invited and comes with the messenger, that is permission for him.' This Hadith is recorded by Abu Dawud. Furthermore, Abdullah ibn Mas'ud stated: 'If you are invited, then permission has been granted to you,' as narrated by Imam Ahmad with his chain of narration.
