Al-Qadi and the school of Shafi'i hold that the husband has the right to prevent his Muslim wife from going out to the mosques. However, the apparent meaning of the Hadith suggests the husband should not prevent her, based on the Prophet's saying: 'Do not prevent the female servants of God from the mosques of God.' It is narrated that Zubair disliked preventing 'Atikah bint Zayd from going to the mosques, despite his jealousy, due to this report.
