Under what conditions may a wife observe a voluntary fast or grant permission in her house?

It is not lawful for a woman to fast while her husband is present except with his permission. Likewise, she cannot grant permission to enter her home except with his permission. Any expenditure she makes without his authorization will result in half of it being returned to him, as indicated by the Prophet, peace be upon him.
