Primary text

There are two scholarly opinions regarding the obligation of blood money for the hand. The first opinion states no guarantee is due because it becomes apparent that the injury was inflicted upon someone whose life was not inviolable (a non-Ma'sum). The second opinion maintains that Diyya is obligatory because the nullification of the wound's progression (Sarayat al-Juruh) does not void the liability for the original damage, similar to when another person kills the victim after the limb was severed.
