Primary text

When death results from a wound, accountability is based on the chain of consequence (sarayah) and its resulting effect, hence the intent behind the initial wounding act is considered, not the specific intent for the subsequent death. In the case of intentional restraint leading to murder by another, the death results from an act separate from the initial wounding, and the actor has the capacity to prevent the resulting death, thus the intent regarding that specific act (the restraint) must be considered, aligning it with the ruling for one who physically restrains another.
