If two perpetrators acted while the victim was a slave and one acted while the victim was free, resulting in death, the compensation is due from them. The master receives, according to one view, the lesser of the assessed value of the two injuries (*arsh al-jinaayatayn*) or two-thirds of the total compensation (*diyah*).
