If the severed hand possessed nails, but they were green or undeveloped (described as 'mustahshafah'), the whole sound hand is taken in retaliation. This condition is considered a defect or ailment, and ailment does not prevent Qisas, evidenced by the rule that a sound person is held accountable for injury against an infirm person.
