Is retaliation (Qisas) applicable for an eyelid injury?

Retaliation (Qisas) for an eyelid injury is permissible. This is supported by the statement of Allah, "And for wounds, there is retaliation" (Quran 5:45). Furthermore, Qisas is possible because the eyelid terminates at a joint (mafṣal). This is the established doctrine of Al-Shafi'i.
