Is retribution applicable for an ear that has been severed and reattached?

Retribution is not applicable for a severed ear, according to the statement of Al-Qadi, which aligns with the Madhhab of Al-Shafi'i. This is because achieving exact equivalence (mumathalah) in the severed portion is not possible.
