Primary text

Retaliation (Qisas) by severing at the elbow is mandated because it is a joint. The injured party is not permitted to demand severance at the wrist, as they were able to fully satisfy their right by executing Qisas at the precise location of the injury. If the injured party forgives Qisas and accepts Diyah, they receive the full Diyah for the hand and compensation for the forearm.
