Primary text
If the injured party amputates the site of the necrosis, consideration is given to the nature of the tissue removed. If only dead flesh was removed, and the injury subsequently spreads, Qisas remains incumbent upon the perpetrator because the spread is solely attributable to the perpetrator's initial injury. If the amputation involved living flesh, and the injured party dies, the ruling is the same as when amputation was performed out of fear of the spread (as detailed above regarding death).
