What is the ruling if the injured party's head is larger and the perpetrator inflicts two *Muwadaḥah* wounds, one on the front and one on the back, covering the extent of the perpetrator's entire head?
Chapter on Retaliation (Qawad)
Al-Mughni
Book of Wounds
Primary text
The perpetrator has the choice between inflicting a single *Muwadaḥah* wound covering the entirety of the injured person's head, or inflicting two *Muwadaḥah* wounds, restricting each one to the exact measurement of a single *Muwadaḥah*. In this specific case, there is no compensation (*Arsh*) due for the difference, according to a single valid opinion, because the perpetrator refrained from taking the full measure of retribution when it was possible.
Supporting text
If the injured party pardons the full retribution in favor of financial compensation (*Arsh*), they are entitled to the *Arsh* for two *Muwadaḥah* wounds. Alternatively, the injured party may choose to exact retribution for one wound and receive the *Diyyah* (blood money) for the other.
