Primary text
Retribution is due for cutting the leg, or half the blood money is due to his heirs. There is no retribution for the hand or its subsequent fatality. The perpetrator owes the value of a free man to his former master, which is the lesser of the damage assessment for the hand cut or the blood money of a free man, according to Ibn Hamid. According to Abu Bakr and Al-Qadi, the value of the slave is due to the master, considering the status at the time of the injury.
