What is the ruling regarding the amputation of fingers at their joints?
Chapter on Retaliation (Qawad)
Al-Mughni
Book of Wounds
Primary text
Amputation of fingers at their joints mandates retaliation (Qisas). This is because fingers possess discernible joints, allowing for execution of Qisas without bias or excess. If the injured party chooses monetary compensation (Diyah), they receive half the Diyah for a hand, as each finger is valued at one-tenth of the total Diyah.
