Primary text

For jewelry where Zakat is due by weight, the Nisab is considered based on weight. If one possesses jewelry valued at two hundred Dirhams but weighing less than two hundred, Zakat is not due. If it reaches two hundred by weight, Zakat is due, even if its value is less, based on the saying of the Prophet (peace be upon him): 'There is no Sadaqah (Zakat) on less than five Ounces of silver.'
