The estimation (kharas) of grapes is permissible because the fruit is gathered together in bunches on the vine, allowing for an estimation to be performed upon it. Furthermore, there is a pressing need for the owners to consume these grapes while they are still fresh (rutubah). This view is attributed to Malik.
