There are reports indicating permissibility for gold on a sword. Ahmad mentioned that the sword of 'Uthman ibn Hunayf had a gold pin, and 'Umar possessed a sword with gold ingots. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, entered Makkah with gold and silver on his sword. This suggests that for items like the sword, gold ornamentation may be permissible.
