The verse, 'He has succeeded who purifies himself' (Quran 87:14), refers to Sadaqah al-Fitr, according to Sa'id ibn al-Musayyib and Umar ibn Abd al-Aziz. This charity is ascribed to al-Fitr because it becomes due upon breaking the fast of Ramadan.
