Is the obligatory *Fitr* paid by one person on behalf of another permissible if done without permission?
Chapter on Zakat al-Fitr

Book of Zakat
Primary text
If one pays the *Fitr* obligation for another without their permission, there are two views. The primary view holds that it is sufficient (yujzi'u), as the payer has discharged their own obligation, similar to an obligation that rested solely on them. This is supported by the analogy that the individual has fulfilled their *Fitr* obligation.

The second view states that it is not sufficient. This is because the payment constitutes discharging an obligation due from another person without authorization, which invalidates the act, analogous to paying a debt for someone else without permission.
