The requirement of possessing the crops or fruits for one full year (Houl) is not considered for Zakat obligations. The reason for this is that the growth (Namaz) that completes the obligation is achieved upon harvesting the crop, not merely by keeping it. In contrast, the Houl is stipulated for other types of wealth because it is the presumptive standard for the completion of growth in those assets.
