Is the owner's premature payment of Zakah sufficient if it is before drying?
Chapter on Zakat on Crops and Fruits
Al-Mughni
Book of Zakat
Primary text
If the owner pays the Zakah before the fruit has fully dried, it is not considered sufficient payment. He remains obligated to pay the remainder after drying, because what he initially paid was not the prescribed obligatory amount (Fard), similar to how paying with a young animal in lieu of a mature one due for Zakah is insufficient.
