Whose responsibility is the Zakat al-Fitr if multiple people provide sustenance to one person during Ramadan?
Chapter on Zakat al-Fitr

Book of Zakat
Primary text
According to Ibn Aqil's reasoning based on our Madhhab, if someone sustains another on the last night of Ramadan, their Fitr becomes obligatory, analogous to one who acquires a slave at sunset. If a group sustains a person throughout the month, or one person sustains another for part of the month, Ibn Aqil's position implies the obligation rests upon the one who sustained him on the final night.

There are other possibilities: it may not be obligatory upon any of those who sustained him because the necessary condition of sustenance throughout the entire month was not met. Alternatively, it might be obligatory upon all of them jointly, proportionally, because they shared in the cause of obligation, resembling a situation where they share ownership of a slave.
