The *Kharaj* imposed in this settlement is legally equivalent to *Jizya* (poll tax). Consequently, this *Kharaj* is lifted upon their acceptance of Islam, and the land becomes their property without any *Kharaj* due. This is because the tax was imposed due to their state of disbelief, similar to the *Jizya* levied on their heads, which ceases upon conversion. If this land subsequently transfers to a Muslim owner, no *Kharaj* becomes due on it.
