Chapter on Zakat on Crops and Fruits
Al-Mughni
Book of Zakat
Primary text
If the owner cuts the fruit for consumption, or to thin the fruit on the palm trees to improve the rest of the harvest, or to preserve the assets due to fear of thirst or weakness of the core fruit (*jimmar*), and this cutting reduces the amount below the *nisab*, no Zakat is due because the property perished before the obligation arose.
