Primary text

The ruling of individual obligation, separate from the partner's obligation, is established when two individuals possess separate minimum thresholds (*Nisab*) which are then mixed, or when one possesses a full *Nisab* and the other less, and they mix them immediately, contingent upon accepting that a small amount is forgiven. This requires that the ownership, even if small, must have been separate immediately prior to the mixing, or that one owner had a full *Nisab* while the other had less than a *Nisab* when they were mixed during the year (*Hawl*).
