What is the ruling if a person earmarks a portion of livestock and sells it mixed with other wealth?
Chapter on Zakat on Sheep
Al-Mughni
Book of Zakat
Primary text
If the seller earmarks a portion and sells it mixed, the ruling follows the case where it was sold mixed, according to Abu Bakr's reasoning regarding the interruption of the Hawl. If the buyer immediately mixes the newly purchased portion with the original owner's remaining flock, Ibn Hamid states the Hawl is broken due to the establishment of individual ownership for that portion.

The Judge suggests that the ruling might be the same as if it were sold mixed, given the short duration of the mixing period.
