Charity given to a relative is recommended. This is supported by the verse mentioning "an orphan of near relationship" (Quran 90:15). The Prophet, peace be upon him, stated: "Charity given to a poor person is charity, but charity given to a relative is two: charity and maintaining kinship." This hadith is stated as *Hasan*. Furthermore, when Zaynab, the wife of Abdullah ibn Mas'ud, asked the Prophet if it benefits her to give her charity to her husband and her orphaned nephews, the Prophet replied, "Yes, she has two rewards: the reward of kinship and the reward of charity."
