Primary text

Imam Ahmad opined that a horse dedicated in the cause of Allah with a silver-adorned bridle remains as dedicated. However, it is more favorable that the silver from the saddle and bridle be sold and used to acquire a similar saddle and bridle, as the silver itself is not being utilized, and the resulting purchase would be more beneficial for Muslims. This implies a concession regarding the silver adornment of the saddle and bridle because of established custom, akin to the adornment of a belt.

If it is determined that the prohibited adornment is entirely consumed, its continued use is not forbidden, paralleling the ruling on roof overlaying. Al-Qadi permitted the clasp (alaqah) of a Mushaf to be made of gold or silver specifically for women, but this view is deemed weak because a woman's adornment is what she wears on her body or clothing; everything else falls under the ruling of vessels, and only what is permissible for men is permissible for women.
