The obligation of Khums applies to all found treasures. Scholars affirming this include Al-Zuhri, Al-Shafi'i, Abu Hanifa and his companions, Abu Thawr, and Ibn al-Mundhir, among others. The first section concerning this issue establishes that the treasure (Rikaz) subject to Khums is exclusively that which originates from the burial sites of the Jahiliyyah (pre-Islamic era).
