What is the ruling regarding Zakat on a debt owed to a person who absolves the debtor after one Hawl has passed?
Chapter on Zakat on Debt and Charity

Primary text
The ruling for Zakat on any general debt that the creditor forgives after one full year has passed is identical to the ruling concerning the deferred dower mentioned previously. If a man gives a gift of wealth to another, and one Hawl passes, and the donor subsequently takes it back, the Zakat liability rests upon the person who possessed it when the year concluded, as the initial ownership was established for him.
