Chapter on Zakat on Sheep
Al-Mughni
Book of Zakat
Primary text
This situation is analogous to the previous case concerning mixing partners. Following Abu Bakr's ruling, the survivor owes nothing until the Hawl is completed on the totality of the wealth from the moment he owned both shares, unless one share alone meets the Nisab threshold.
Supporting text
Following Ibn Hamid's ruling, Zakah is due on the half share that belonged to the deceased partner.
