Primary text

The resting place (Mubeet) is the stable or enclosure where the livestock return at night, derived from the Quranic verse concerning the time of rest, {when you bring the cattle home at rest} (Quran 16:6). The pasture (Marsa or Masrah) is the place where the livestock graze, evidenced by the command, {and when you send them out to pasture} (Quran 16:6). The milking place (Mahlab) must be singular; partners must not designate separate locations for milking their respective herds. This does not refer to mixing the milk in one container, as that imposes hardship (Mashaqqah) due to the necessity of subsequent division. The common stud male (Fahl) means that the stud males of one owner do not service the animals of the other owner. Similarly, the common herder (Ra'i) means that each owner does not have a herder exclusively tending only their animals.
