Primary text

There is no permissible excess given to any of these categories beyond what is required to satisfy their immediate need, because the distribution is intended to address that specific necessity, and therefore, the amount given must not exceed what that necessity demands.

Supporting text

Ahmad deemed that any amount given to support the wayfarer (ibn as-sabīl) from Zakat, such as one thousand (dinars/dirhams, contextually implied), is acceptable as long as it serves the purpose of enabling their journey.
