How is the Zakah calculated for trade goods once the lunar year has passed?

When a person possesses trade goods, and a full lunar year has passed while they are above the nisab (minimum threshold), the goods must be appraised at the end of the year. The Zakah due is one-fortieth (Rub'u 'ashr) of that assessed value.
