To whom should Zakat be given if a minor or an insane person lacks a guardian?

If a minor or an insane person has no legal guardian, the Zakat due to them must be given to the adult who manages their affairs and looks after them, such as their mother or another responsible caretaker. Imam Ahmad explicitly permitted this arrangement.
