Is Zakat obligatory on crops or fruits purchased after the signs of ripeness have appeared?

If one purchases a crop after the signs of ripeness have appeared, or fruit whose signs of ripeness have appeared, or acquires them through any means of ownership, Zakat is not obligatory upon them, based on the established principle regarding ownership timing.
