Is equating one's wife to the back of another man considered Zihar (pronouncement of immolation)?
General Chapter
Al-Mughni
Book of Zihar
Primary text
One narration holds that equating a wife to the back of the husband's father, the back of another man, or stating, 'You are to me as the back of a beast,' or, 'You are to me like carrion (Maytah) and blood,' constitutes Zihar. Ahmad affirmed this, stating the back of a man is forbidden and thus constitutes Zihar. Ibn al-Qasim, a companion of Malik, held this view regarding the statement, 'You are to me as the back of my father.' This view is also narrated from Jabir ibn Zayd.

The second narration states that such a comparison does not constitute Zihar. This is the view held by the majority of scholars because the comparison is made to something that is not a subject of sexual enjoyment, similar to comparing her to the wealth of Zayd.
