Is the intention (*Niyyah*) required for the validity of *Zihar* for a non-Muslim?

Intention is only considered for specifying the required act for expiation, and this specification is not precluded for a non-Muslim, similar to the intention required in the allusive pronouncements (*kinayat*) of divorce.
