Is it permissible to give Kaffarah to a slave, an *Umm Walad*, or one whose maintenance is obligatory upon the giver?

It is not permissible to give Kaffarah to a slave because his maintenance is the responsibility of his master, and slaves are not among the categories of Zakat recipients. Similarly, it is impermissible to give it to an *Umm Walad* because she is a female slave whose maintenance and earnings belong to her master. It is also impermissible to give it to anyone whose maintenance is obligatory upon the payer. There are two differing opinions regarding giving it to a husband, depending on the ruling regarding giving Zakat to him.
