If the declaration is phrased, 'If God wills, then you are unlawful (Haram),' the exception lifts the ruling of Zihar because a condition preceding a statement is answered by the conjunction 'fa' (then). Similarly, saying, 'If God wills, you are unlawful,' is an exception where the 'fa' is implied. The phrasing, 'If God wills, then you are unlawful,' is also valid, treating the 'fa' as superfluous.
