What is the ruling if Kaffarah is given to someone who appears poor but turns out to be wealthy or non-eligible?

If Kaffarah is given to someone appearing poor, and he subsequently turns out to be wealthy, there are two opinions concerning whether the atonement is fulfilled, based on the two narrations concerning Zakat. If he turns out to be a non-believer or a slave, the atonement is not fulfilled, according to a single clear ruling.
