Primary text

It is obligatory to purchase the available slave if it is priced at its market value, even if that price could buy slaves of other types. Purchasing this specific slave at its fair price is not considered harm, and the subsequent necessity of freeing it (which is the core obligation) does not negate the initial duty of purchase, just as it would not negate the obligation if the person already owned such a slave.
