Asking permission to enter
كتاب الاسْتِئْذَانُ
Hadith 43:28
'Abdullah ibn Busr, the Companion of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said that when the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, came to a door when he wanted to ask permission to enter, he did not face it directly. He stood to the right or the left. If he was given permission, he went in. Otherwise he went away.
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا بَقِيَّةُ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْيَحْصِبِيُّ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ بُسْرٍ، صَاحِبُ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم كَانَ إِذَا أَتَى بَابًا يُرِيدُ أَنْ يَسْتَأْذِنَ لَمْ يَسْتَقْبِلْهُ، جَاءَ يَمِينًا وَشِمَالاً، فَإِنْ أُذِنَ لَهُ وَإِلا انْصَرَفَ
