Hadith 24:143
Abu Usama narrated to us, he said: Hisham narrated to us, from his father, who said: I and Abdullah ibn al-Zubayr entered upon Asma ten nights before the killing of Abdullah, and Asma was in pain. Abdullah said to her, "How do you find yourself?" She said, "In pain." He said, "Indeed, there is relief in death." She said, "Perhaps you wish for my death? Do not do that, for by Allah, I do not desire to die until one of two paths comes to me: either you are killed and I seek reward [from Allah] for you, or you are victorious and my eyes are cooled. So beware, if his [the enemy's] offer is presented to you, that it does not align with you, and you accept it out of hatred for death." He said: And Ibn al-Zubayr only meant that he might be killed, and that would grieve her.
