Abu Dawud al-Tayalisi narrated to us, from al-Muthanna ibn Sa'id, from Abu Sufyan, who said: Ibn al-Zubayr delivered a sermon to us and said: "We have been afflicted with what you see. So, whatever we command you with, in which there is obedience to Allah, then we have upon you in it hearing and obedience. And whatever we command you with, in which there is no obedience to Allah, then we have no right upon you in it for hearing or obedience, nor is there any favor to be acknowledged."
