Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 24:156

Ubayd Allah ibn Musa narrated to us, he said: Isra'il informed us, from Abu Ishaq, from Harithah ibn Mudarrib, from Ali, that he gave a sermon, then said: "Indeed, the son of your brother, al-Hasan ibn Ali, has gathered wealth, and he intends to distribute it among you." So the people attended, and al-Hasan stood up and said: "I have only gathered it for your poor." Then half of the people stood up, and the first of them to take from it was al-Ash'ath ibn Qays.
