Hadith 24:16
Ibn ‘Ulayyah narrated to us, from Ayyub, from Abu Qilabah, that a man from Quraysh called Thumamah was in charge of Sana’a. When the news of the killing of Uthman reached him, he wept and prolonged his weeping. When he recovered, he said: "Today, Prophethood and the Caliphate of Prophethood have been snatched away from the Ummah of Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and it has become a monarchy and coercion. Whoever overcomes something, consumes it."
حدثنا بن علية عن أيوب عن أبي قلابة أن رجلا من قريش يقال له ثمامة كان على صنعاء فلما جاء قتل عثمان بكى فأطال البكاء فلما أفاق قال اليوم انتزعت النبوة وخلافة النبوة من أمة محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم وصارت ملكا وجبرية من غلب على شيء أكله
