Ya'la ibn 'Ubayd narrated to us, he said: Isma'il ibn Abi Khalid narrated to us, from Hakim ibn Jabir, he said: When 'Uthman was besieged, 'Ali came to Talha while he was leaning his back against cushions in his house. He said: "I adjure you by Allah, why did you turn the people away from 'Ali, the Commander of the Believers?" Talha said: "Until they give what is due from themselves."
