Hadith 24:29
Abu Usama narrated to us, he said: Al-Walid ibn Kathir narrated to me, from Wahb ibn Kaysan, who said: I heard Jabir ibn Abdullah saying: When the Year of the Community (Am al-Jama'ah) arrived, Mu'awiyah sent Busr ibn Artat to Medina to take the pledge of allegiance from its people according to their banners and their tribes. When the day came that the Ansar came to him, the Banu Sulaym came to him. He said: "Is Jabir among them?" They said: "No." He said: "Then let them return, for I will not take their pledge until Jabir is present." He said: So he came to me and said: "I adjure you by Allah to come with us and pledge allegiance, so that you may spare your blood and the blood of your people. For if you do not do so, he will kill our fighting men and take our offspring captive." He said: So I asked them for a delay until the night. When evening came, I entered upon Umm Salamah, the wife of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and I informed her of the news. She said: "O son of my mother, go and pledge allegiance, and spare your blood and the blood of your people, for I have ordered my brother's son to go and pledge allegiance."
حدثنا أبو أسامة قال حدثني الوليد بن كثير عن وهب بن كيسان قال سمعت جابر بن عبد الله يقول لما كان عام الجماعة بعث معاوية إلى المدينة بسر بن أرطاة ليبايع أهلها على راياتهم وقبائلهم فلما كان يوم جاءته الأنصار جاءته بنو سليم فقال أفيهم جابر قالوا لا قال فليرجعوا فإني لست مبايعهم حتى يحضر جابر قال فأتاني فقال ناشدتك الله إلا ما انطلقت معنا فبايعت فحقنت دمك ودماء قومك فإنك إن لم تفعل قتلت مقاتلتنا وسبيت ذرارينا قال فاستنظرهم إلى الليل فلما أمسيت دخلت على أم سلمة زوج النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم فأخبرتها الخبر فقالت يا بن أم انطلق فبايع واحقن دمك ودماء قومك فإني قد امرت بن أخي يذهب فيبايع
